[ fei du sighs. maybe it's the insecurity week; for the first time, some of his many, many masks crumble, and he looks a little tired. sad, too. ]
I still think it was that stupid flamethrower. I think Shenhe swapped to ice. Whoever it was had to be an incredible fighter, to be able to handle her.
[ it's funny, because there's a reaction. fei du's not shy, at all, or averse to touch - he reaches out to others, often, but more often than not it's a carefully metered out response, the understanding that others respond well to it and so therefore it's what he should do. he's learned how to be a person by observing the reactions of others in his own right, and that makes him good at it.
... but when kyoko hugs him, there's a very soft, surprised inhale of breath, his hands twitching slightly in the air. and then... slowly, he returns it, a little stiffly in his own regard, but less like he hates it and more like it's just a surprise. like he's barely ever known tenderness in his life.
and then he exhales, shaky, and lets himself settle into it. ]
...No. And there's no way to check for it, either.
[Kyoko isn't shy either. Not really. Most of what she's learned came from observations and memories, watching humans and learning how to fit in. How well she managed to do that is debatable.
Her real form isn't really built for the tenderness that humans show each other. As the head of the detective agency, she was the boss- hardly the person anybody went for to be comforted.
Holding her friend like this, offering him what comfort she's able. It doesn't feel bad.]
Though, I've been wondering. Sometimes, there are items with unique classifications in catalogues. I wonder if those have any special attributes. Sort of like how the food sometimes is imbued with a curse. I may buy one next week as a test.

With how skilled she was, they would need to match her. Nobody is going to admit to having that flamethrower.

They're dead (allegedly) and Fei Du can be mad. It's a frustrating experience when they know what to ask for, but can't actually get.]
I doubt we'll see that in the store any time soon.

I'd think it's likely. If there is a cost then they must do something... If it's limited the stock goes fast, so be prepared.
