The Royal Knights are a group of... Thirteen Digimon that are tasked to protect the Digital World. A world that is parallel to Earth, and under normal circumstances they would be separate.
About half of them want to destroy Earth in an attempt to cleanse the Digital World of corruption, and the other half would like humans to continue to survive. Omegamon is in the later category.
There was a dimensional rift that LordKnightmon [Crusadermon] decided to tear wider. With that the more powerful knights could also come through in their entirety without suffering degeneration.
