It's a possibility. I did consider that these may be the Erased attempt at trying to connect with us. Whatever place they're in might be heavily scrambling their messages, or this could be their way of avoiding too much scrutiny.
I find it a reach, but seeing we know so little of the game... It's not entirely impossible.
