[!!! He flips to a new page in his notebook and starts writing quickly.]

Oh, like the Akasha! But what is it based on? Worlds like this don't run on elemental energy, right?

[He's writing all of this down with so much enthusiasm]

It's a system we used to have in Sumeru. We used it to share and obtain information, essentially. To be honest, I was never the biggest fan of it, and I don't really miss it--but it certainly had its uses.

In a lot of ways, really. But ultimately, from what I heard, the Sages--that is, the people in power at the time--took advantage of it. When they were overthrown, the system was shut down.

Yes. [A sigh, as he finishes writing.] It's left a lot of the students somewhat unmoored, but they'll be alright. And maybe they'll learn a thing or two about appreciating the art of storytelling again, while they're at it.

Not in the sense that it was eradicated--people just lost their appreciation for it. Why listen to a storyteller when you could be fed the information you want directly into your mind with a capsule? [Huffs.] People argued that it was an obsolete art form, but I never agreed.

Yes, exactly. And besides, true art is a precious fruit of leisure. It can't be compared to things that are exported or commercialized.

[Kaveh would explode with rage if he knew about AI art]

The arts are very important to me, yes. ["The ability to appreciate beauty is an important virtue," says Kaveh Kavehson.] And yes, I do. Granted, aesthetics are never my primary focus when I'm designing--but to me, they're a critical element of any space meant for humans.
