Only the beings have escaped. Something like ransomware isn't a problem. They're variable in how friendly they are, but that's how it is with any being.

So when you said you did stuff like cybercrime, you actually meant...what, catching these guys and figuring out what to do with them?

[factoring]

This is part of that now. It was originally just bad actors, accounts getting stolen and such. The normal things you'd assume about cyber crime.

So...how long's it been since this stuff started for you?

[factoring]

[ Looks at the nonexistent timeline of events. Guesses... ]

About a month or two.

[huntressinred]

Wow. So it must've been pretty hectic, right?

[factoring]

Yes. It's been a chaotic time.

Is...anyone else back home doing the sort of thing you were?

My assistant and her friends.

You think they've got it all handled without you there?

I have no other choice but to believe in them at the moment. They're all capable.

I take it the ghost hunting is what's making it complicated?

Yeah--or, well, that's what I thought, at the time.

I don't think it changed so much as I learned about what was really going on.

And... what was that?

[huntressinred]

The ghost you saw, with the white hair?

I think...[ small, as if she's afraid to say it out loud: ] I think that might've been Danny.

That does make things difficult, doesn't it? Were you ever able to talk about it with him?

[huntressinred]

No. I didn't even realize it until earlier this week.

[factoring]

What made you start to consider it?

[huntressinred]

[ sighs ] Right before I ended up here, I found out that half-ghosts exist. There was a little girl--the cousin of that ghost boy, and she looks just like him. And when she turned human, she looked...like she could've been Danny's little sister.

I didn't think about it much at the time, but when somebody else saw my memories and pointed out Danny and the ghost boy looked alike... It's just too many similarities to be a coincidence.

This sounds even more complicated than the ghost hunting on its own.
